Pacos Tacos on Urbanspoon

Visited last week with a couple of friends during our lunch break; it’s located right opposite Movida but tricky to find if you’ve never been there or Earl Canteen. It’s right behind the NAB headquarters but also accessible from Little Bourke so you can avoid walking through the building with all them business people in their fancy suits.

It was a pretty nice day so we thought we’d head over there since it’s virtually a ‘rooftop’ kinda area, with umbrellas and minimal shading, but with a nice outdoors-y relaxed vibe to it. Would have liked one of the tables under the umbrellas but they were all filled so we opted for the huge communal wooden picnic tables in the middle.

Pescado: Marinated fish, chipotle and radish

I opted to get two of the tacos (there are all $6 each) - the pulled pork and the pescado. All the tacos come with corriander, spring onion and cabbage on a 6-inch soft-shell corn tortilla.

I’ve lost the photo of the pulled pork one (but it’s the one on the left in the top photo) but I think it was variation of the normal one as the menu had been altered. It was quite nice, but nothing sensational as I’ve had better pulled pork tacos elsewhere. However, the fish taco (in the above photo) was quite different to the fish tacos I’ve had an pleasantly surprised with the overall taste in this one, and loved the addition of the radish!

Nachos: Toasted Tortilla Chips, Salsa Verde, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole and Queso Fresco

The nachos ($12) were absolutely amazing, so fresh and delicious! The combination of everything placed onto it was a winner whilst the chips were crunch and didn’t get too soggy under the condiments.

Drinks: As pictured above, I opted for the sangria, $8 a glass or $35 for a jug. I wish someone had wanted to share the jug with me cos this sangria is one of the best I’ve had (not that I can say I’ve tried a lot).. It’s quite a big glass, so was quite worth the $8.
My friends opted for the mango-flavoured Jarritos, a Mexican soft-drink, which is slowly gaining popularity in Melbourne.

So all in all, I would go back as the environment is fantastic to be in on a nice warm sunny Melbourne day - also so I can get around trying the other menu items.
