Huxtaburger on Urbanspoon

Recently went to try Huxtaburger, though probably did not choose the best day or time to head over there. It’s easy enough to get to though, just a brief tram ride (no. 86 tram from Bourke St) which stops about a minute away from the place. Me and friend rocked up at about 1.30pm on a Saturday to find the place absolutely packed.

There’s about four or five tables outside on the sidewalk, and a few seats inside but other than that there’s no where else to sit. Luckily, we managed to get a table outside just as we’d ordered - which we thought was great as the sun was out and it was a generally nice day. However, there’s no shade to protect you from the sun which was hanging right over us so just be mindful of that.

The wait was quite long (around 20 minutes) but then again the line did not cease at all and people were going in and out the whole time we were waiting.

My friend ordered the

  • Huxtaburger (beef pattie, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce, pickles), in the first picture;
  • while I opted for Bills (huxtaburger with bacon, egg, pineapple, beetroot) pictured in the second one - though I omitted the pineapple and beetroot.
  • We also got a large chipotle chips, in the first picture as well.

The burger was delicious, particularly after the wait we had to endure - and very filling despite its rather meagre appearance. The meat pattie was juicy and succulent and pretty much everything you expect for a burger. However, I did find it quite greasy as the brioche bun had been grilled in I assume butter which left me reaching for the napkin quite a bit but minor in comparison to the taste of the burger. Also, on a side note, as I’m particularly a sauce-person I did find that there was a bit too much of the sauces (mayo, mustard, tomato sauce) for my liking. The chips were great, especially the chipotle seasoning which gave them an extra edge; except we couldn’t finish them in the end after finishing our burgers.
